How do I know if I should do a class or a private program?
The answer depends on several factors, including the type of behavior issue you're dealing with, your schedule, whether you'd like others involved in the training, and the goals you want to achieve.  If you are not sure, then call Catherine and discuss which option is best. It should be said that private instructions allows us to focus in detail on your specific goals and issues.

How long will it take to change my dog's behaviour?
Well that depends on a few factors.  How long has the behaviour been happening? What is your dog's history? What have you been doing up to this point? Will you be consistent in helping your dog to learn new behaviours? There is no easy answer to this question but I can tell you that change takes time.  When you are committed to changing your behaviour, your dog will respond to it and over time changes will occur.

Do you guarantee a behaviour change if we work together?
I can’t ethically guarantee a specific change in your dog’s behavior because many factors influence it—some beyond both of our control, especially with a rescued or rehomed dog. However, I do guarantee that you’ll gain valuable knowledge to better understand your dog and their behavior. I also guarantee a humane approach: I will never intentionally harm, threaten, or use painful equipment on your dog. Most importantly, if you make even small changes in how you interact with your dog, their behavior will change—because it starts with you.

Why do I have to call instead of email?
There are a few reasons. First, I need a deeper understanding of the issue you're seeking help with. This also gives you a chance to learn more about what I do, how I work with clients and dogs, and my approach to training. Hiring a trainer requires trust, and that phone call helps both of us determine if we're the right fit to achieve the goals you have for yourself and your dog.

Do I need a consultation?
It depends. If you're dealing with serious behavior issues, then yes—a consultation is necessary. It provides both of us with deeper insight into what’s happening and helps me create a tailored training plan for you. However, if you have a young puppy, a consultation may not always be required. This is something we determine during our initial phone call. For all serious behavior concerns, a consultation is always required.

Can I just do a consultation and decide later if I want more help?
No, I work with a limited number of clients at a time to ensure quality and personalized attention. If you're committed to the process, I bring you on board through a consultation and a structured training program. My smallest program, the Wellness Program, includes a consultation and one follow-up lesson, which could be a good option if you prefer to start small.

How can I pay for my program?
I accept e transfers or credit cards.  Programs are paid for in advance but for larger programs I can split the the payments into 2 installments if that helps.

I found a trainer who offers their services for much less than what you charge, why?
Great question.  I focus on quality, proven techniques, and a customized approach to fit your dog’s specific needs. Many clients find that investing in the right training from the start actually saves them time and money in the long run.  Dog training and client coaching is what I do for a living full time since 2013.  Take the Lead Dog Training is not a hobby in between a full time job.
